Generating great keywords doesn’t have to be difficult. Here are 3 ideas to come up with great keywords with some less obvious tactics.

How can I spend just 5 minutes to generate great ideas for keywords?

  1. Google suggested searches below search results
  2. Rise in “near me” searches has increased 34 times since 2011 and doubled in the last 12 months.
  3. Ask your customers!

In our first suggestion, consider that Google often does the work for you! When searching for something, be sure to check out the suggested searches at the bottom of each search results page. These are keywords that other people have used to find topics similar to what you are looking for.

Since 2011, “near me” searches have increased 34 times. They have also doubled since 2014. Examples include “mechanics near me” or “restaurants near me”. These searches are especially prevalent and useful on mobile devices (account for almost 80% of “near me” searches). Since mobile users are on the go, finding search results in their vicinity is crucial.

Lastly, ask your customers for suggestions. They obviously know their industry much better than you ever will. Customers are a great resource for finding similar search terms that might not be so apparent at first glance. They are especially useful for learning about industry keywords and specific services that their customers are looking for.
