In an effort to enhance security measures while also increase network and server performance, we are excited to announce our long planned upgrade server-wide to PHP 7.3! Our hosting platform has grown leaps and bounds, but our PHP run time has lagged behind the update schedule. But no more!
Starting on January 15, 2020, the 3PManagedHosting infrastructure will minimally run sites on PHP version 7.3.
What Is It?
PHP is a X that helps your website run X faster and more securely.
What Will Happen?
PHP 5+ will be sunset, unsupported, removed.
This upgrade comes with the requirement to no longer support versions of PHP < 7.0. This is a vital requirement to ensure the full suite of features is available and to ensure the highest level of security possible on the system.
In so doing, many of our client sites will need to be upgraded. If sites are not updated, there may be service interruption encountered.
Although 3PRIME is your hosting provider of choice, unless we are the developer of record for your firm, you will need to find resources to upgrade your system to ensure a smooth transition. To this end, we are offering a preferred service option for our hosting clients to upgrade their system for them for a nominal fee.
What This Means for You
PHP 7.3 is the recommendation espoused by WordPress development team. It’s provides much better performance, while also boasting increased security. WordPress is so committed to having sites that are driven by their software to upgrade, that beginning in September of 2019, WordPress will implement a persistent alert on the dashboard area notifying webmasters to upgrade their PHP version.
