What is Accessibility
Web accessibility is a set of rules, behaviors, code standards, and design guidelines that are used to enable people with disabilities, which comprise 20% of the world’s population, to use websites effectively.

These guidelines have been adopted by governments around the world and are now a part of various legislations, such as the ADA, Section 508, EN 301549, and others.

The WCAG focuses mainly on three areas of accessibility:

  • blind people using screen-readers (JAWS, NVDA),
  • people with motor impairments who use only keyboards, and
  • a variety of other disabilities such as color blindness, epilepsy, and minor visual impairments that are mainly focused on the UI and design of the website (color contrasts, animations, fonts, etc.)

Our Solution

Our service provides:

  • ADA, WCAG 2.1 Level AA& Section 508 compliance.
  • An accessibility statement and certification of performance.
  • Ongoing maintenance involving re-scan of your website every 24 hours

How Does the Technology Work?

accessiBe utilizes two applications that together achieve compliance. The accessibility interface is responsible for all the UI and design-related adjustments, while the AI-powered background process handles the more complex requirements – optimization for screen-readers and for keyboard navigation.

The accessibility interface covers about 30% of the requirements and include adjustments for readable fonts, sizing, spacing, color contrasts, cursors, emphases and more. Users have the choice between accessibility profiles, standalone adjustments, or both. The profiles bundle together common accessibility combinations that together address a specific disability, such as visual impairments, epilepsy, or ADHD.

Accessibility Statement – We firmly believe that the internet should be available and accessible to anyone, and are committed to providing a website that is accessible to the widest possible audience, regardless of circumstance and ability…

Interface’s Capabilities

Here are some of our interface’s capabilities:

Font handling
Users can increase and decrease font size, change type, adjust spacing, alignment, line height, and more.

Color handling
Users can select various color contrast profiles such as light, dark, inverted, and monochrome. Additionally, users can swap color schemes of titles, texts, and backgrounds, with over 7 different colors.

Animations
Users with epilepsy can stop all running animations at the click of a button. This includes videos, GIFs and CSS flashing transitions.

Content Highlighting
Users can emphasize important elements, such as links and titles. They can also highlight particular focused or hovered elements.

Audio Muting
Users with hearing devices may experience headaches or other issues due to automatic audio playing. This option allows users to mute the entire website instantly.

On-demand Dictionary
We utilize a search engine that is linked to Wikipedia and Wiktionary, allowing people with cognitive disorders to decipher meanings of phrases, initials, and slang on the spot.

Other Options
Users can change the cursor’s color and sizing, view in printing mode, enable a virtual keyboard, and much more.

Litigation Support

For our active clients, AccessiBe offers a complimentary litigation support package. While we cannot prevent lawsuits, our service includes the display of an accessibility icon on your website to proactively address potential legal issues. If faced with a lawsuit or demand letter, we provide an Accessibility Statement detailing website improvements. This statement can be shared with legal entities for clarification. In rare cases of pushback, AccessiBe’s Chief Legal Officer personally creates a custom-built litigation package. This package includes compliance audits, two scans for added assurance, an Accessibility Statement, a Suggested Response, a Purchase Invoice showing your investment in your website’s accessibility, a Compliance Overview, and a Failures Request Master. Typically, resolution is provided within 3-7 days.
